Meet Dr. Maguire Brinkley, Psy.D.
Hi, I'm Dr. Maguire Brinkley, a licensed clinical psychologist with a deep commitment to helping children, families, and adults understand themselves through thoughtful, comprehensive psychological assessment. Whether you're a parent concerned about your child's development or an adult seeking answers, I'm here to help.

Beyond surface-level checklists
I specialize in developmental and diagnostic assessments that go beyond test scores. Truly understanding someone's strengths and challenges means looking at the full picture — across settings, relationships, and environments. In practice, that means I:
- Spend time getting to know the child or individual, both in the office and through natural observations like school visits
- Interview key people in their life — parents, teachers, therapists
- Use a combination of standardized testing and personalized insight to understand how someone thinks, learns, and relates to the world
- Provide clear, actionable recommendations, not just a diagnosis
Assessment across the lifespan
Toddlers & Preschoolers
Young children with developmental delays or differences.
Elementary School-aged Children

Neurodivergent Individuals
Including those seeking a better understanding of autism or ADHD.

Richmond roots, national training
I grew up in Richmond and am excited to be back home providing care to this community. I was a "lifer" at Collegiate and received my undergraduate degree from the College of William & Mary. I went on to receive my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland.
I completed specialized training in developmental and diagnostic assessment and therapy at:
- Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC
- Loyola Clinical Centers and Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, MD
- Intercommunity Action in Philadelphia, PA — clinical internship
- Center for Assessment and Treatment (CAAT) in Chevy Chase, MD — postdoctoral fellowship, then staff psychologist
My work has spanned children's hospitals, community clinics, schools, and private practice settings. This range of experience helps me tailor each assessment to the real-world needs of the people I work with.
