ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Dr. Maguire Brinkley, Psy.D., a clinical psychologist with a deep commitment to helping children, families, and adults understand themselves through thoughtful, comprehensive psychological assessment. Whether you're a parent concerned about aspects of your child’s development or an adult seeking answers, I’m here to help bring clarity, compassion, and direction.
I specialize in developmental and diagnostic assessments that go beyond surface-level checklists. I believe that truly understanding someone’s strengths and challenges requires looking at the full picture, across settings, relationships, and environments, not just test scores.

MY APPROACH
I take a collaborative and individualized approach to psychological assessment and my goal is to go above and beyond typical evaluations. This means I:

-
Spend time getting to know the child or individual, both in the office and through natural observations (like school visits)
 -
Interview key people in their life (parents, teachers, therapists)
 -
Use a combination of standardized testing and personalized insight to understand how someone thinks, learns, and relates to the world
 -
Provide clear, actionable recommendations, not just a diagnosis

My evaluations are thorough and tailored to each person. I’m especially passionate about working with young children, and neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism and ADHD, across the lifespan.
WHO I WORK WITH
I provide psychological assessment for:
-
TODDLERS & PRESCHOOLERS (as young as 15 months) with developmental delays or differences
 -
ELEMENTRY SCHOOL-AGED CHIDREN struggling with learning, social, attention, behavior, or emotional challenges
 -
NEURODIVERGENT INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES, including those seeking better understanding of autism or ADHD
 -
ADULTS who may have gone undiagnosed or are seeking clarity

MY BACKGROUND
I grew up in Richmond and am excited to be back home providing care to this community. I was a “lifer” at Collegiate and received my undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary. I went on to receive my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland.
I completed specialized training in developmental and diagnostic assessment and therapy at:

-
Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC
 -
Loyola Clinical Centers and Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, MD
 -
Intercommunity Action in Philadelphia, PA, where I completed my clinical internship
 -
Center for Assessment And Treatment (CAAT) in Chevy Chase, MD, where I completed my postdoctoral fellowship and then worked as a staff psychologist

My work has spanned children’s hospitals, community clinics, schools, and private practice settings. This wide range of experience helps me tailor each assessment to the real-world needs of the people I work with.
